July 19th, I woke up to an email an email from the Black Mental Health Symposium Planning Committee that included a letter from the Black Mental Health Symposium Founder and Host Dr. LaTonya M. Summers informing me that I had been selected as the 2020 Black Mental Health Symposium Advocate of the Year……
…..and on September 11, 2020, during the 2020 Virtual Black Mental Health Symposium, I was Virtually Awarded the 2020 Mental Health Advocate of the Year!
Thank you Dr. LaTonya Summers and the entire Black Mental Health Symposium for selecting and awarding me the 2020 Mental Health Advocate of the Year. It is truly my honor to be recognized for the work, I feel purposed to do each and every day…. ADVOCATE on behalf of those less fortunate and unable to utilize their voice to effect change.
Special Thanks for Dr-David Julius Ford for being such an amazing colleague and for always supporting me, even when I least expect it!
Shirley Chisholm once stated, “I am and always will be a catalyst for change”, and it is this quote that guides my work and service each and every day!
